Signapse

Passenger Experience

Signapse, a Guildford start-up, uses generative AI to turn live airport announcements into sign language, shown by photo-realistic synthetic signers.

Founded in 2022 as a University of Surrey spin-out, it raised a 2 million pound seed round in 2024. SignStream converts data feeds into British or American Sign Language in real time, and SignStudio produces signed video content.

Cincinnati (CVG) runs a live American Sign Language service. Grand Rapids (GRR) piloted it in 2023, and the airport later said it no longer used the technology, though signed message boards appeared in 2024 with another partner.

Profile data from the Aerostack companies register; deployment records from the verified register. Evidence grades: T1 first-party confirmation, T2 credible reporting. See Our approach for how records are graded.

Aerostack tracks AI deployments across airports and airlines, with the published evidence behind each record. Photography is real aviation imagery. Record thumbnails may show the named airport or airline; other photographs do not.
