Odysee, the first start-up from the Alaska Airlines and UP.Labs venture lab, builds software that tests thousands of airline schedule options in seconds. Alaska is both an investor and its first customer.
Founded in Seattle in 2024 and led by Steve Casley, it launched with a 5 million US dollar seed round led by UP.Partners. Its machine-learning simulations are trained on more than 700,000 Alaska flight segments; the company says they predict human schedulers' outcomes with 90 per cent accuracy.
Alaska has used it since October 2024. Its vice president of network planning says scenarios now return solutions within a minute. Full implementation has been claimed by Odysee but not independently confirmed.

Odysee schedule-optimisation tool from Alaska Airlines and UP.Labs, in testing
Alaska Airlines and the venture studio UP.Labs launched Odysee, an AI-enabled start-up for airline schedule optimisation, on 2 October 2024. Alaska said the platform can run hundreds of simulations within seconds to stress-test a future schedule against revenue, profitability and reliability.
Simple Flying reported on 6 November 2024 that Alaska had been testing the tool. No move into routine schedule planning has been announced.
An AI and operations research powered software platform that enables airline schedulers to build, simulate, and optimize flight schedules. The platform runs hundreds of simulations in seconds to stress-test proposed schedules and quantifies the impact of schedule changes on revenue, profitability, and operational reliability.
The problem it addresses
Airline schedule planning requires evaluating enormous numbers of tradeoff decisions that are too complex and time-consuming for manual analysis. Odysee automates scenario modelling so schedulers can evaluate more options faster and with greater confidence.
