Condor launches an app inside ChatGPT for travel ideas and flight search

Condor launched its own app inside ChatGPT in September 2026, the first airline in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to do so. Travellers describe what they want and the app suggests destinations and shows Condor flights, fares and travel classes from its own data, with booking completed on condor.com.

Condor, the German leisure airline based in Frankfurt (FRA), is putting its flights where travellers increasingly start their planning: in conversation with an AI assistant.

Its earlier choice of Talkdesk to bring its contact centre in house, announced in February 2025, appears in the wider register; that source does not describe an AI function.

Condor flights in a ChatGPT conversation

The operational problem

Travellers who start planning in a chatbot rather than a search engine may never reach the airline's website.

What the evidence reports

Condor said on 30 September 2026 that its app, developed using OpenAI technology, brings travel inspiration, flight search and Condor connections into a ChatGPT conversation and is available worldwide, including on the free version of ChatGPT. Users can explore destinations, compare prices across dates and destinations, view the route network on a map and see available flights with fares and travel classes based on Condor data, then book on the Condor website. A request beginning "Condor" opens the app. Alexander Mai, director of e-commerce, said travellers "can describe what they are looking for naturally and openly, even if they do not yet have a destination in mind".

Operational significance

Live fares from the airline's own data keep its offer accurate inside another company's AI, while the booking stays on the airline's own site.

Evidence still needed

The app launched in September 2026 and Condor has not published usage or booking figures.

Editorial assessment

Condor is the first airline in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to put its flights inside ChatGPT, using its own fare data and keeping the booking on its site.

Usage and booking figures from the app would show whether conversational search becomes a sales channel.
