Bengaluru: an AI operations platform announced, but not yet evidenced at work
Bengaluru airport commissioned KPMG to develop a generative-AI operations platform. The public record names the partnership but not a verified live use case; an international Digi Yatra trial is a separate biometric programme.

A development contract without an operating result
An airport-wide generative-AI platform could be applied to many operational tasks. Bengaluru International Airport Limited announced a partnership with KPMG in May 2025 to develop such a platform.
The attached sources do not identify which application went live, the data it uses or the operational decisions made with it. That limits the strength of any claim of implemented AI at Bengaluru.
The proposed October–December 2026 Digi Yatra international-departures pilot is an identity-processing test, not evidence that the KPMG platform has delivered airport results.

Building an airport operations assistant
The operational problem
Airport operations generate large amounts of fragmented information whose interpretation can delay coordinated decisions.
What the sources report
KPMG announced on 15 May 2025 that BIAL had engaged it to develop a generative-AI platform for Bengaluru airport operations.
Why it matters
The partnership could become significant if a named operational function is installed and shown to be useful to airport teams.
What remains unproven
The record is reported_unverified: no specific live deployment, model evaluation or measurable benefit is established.
Evidence supports a reported claim; it does not automatically establish a measured operating benefit.

What else is happening at Bengaluru Kempegowda?
Digi Yatra's planned international e-passport and selfie verification trial remains a pilot. It cannot be used as proof of delivery under the separate KPMG programme.
Digi Yatra international departures pilot at Bengaluru, with e-passport scan and selfie verification · Pilot
India's Digi Yatra will pilot facial verification for international departures at Bengaluru airport between October and December 2026, one of five airports in the trial, The Hindu reported on 24 September 2026.
Travellers will scan an e-passport and verify their identity with a selfie. The system will be used first at entry points and security checkpoints, with immigration outside the first phase.
Evidence supports a reported claim; it does not automatically establish a measured operating benefit.
A platform needs a first proven task
Bengaluru's announcement identifies a credible buyer and delivery partner but little operating detail.
The next substantive update should name the problem solved, deployment date and evidence that staff use the capability.
