The picture at San Diego International
The available operating evidence
The opening of a terminal offers a chance to incorporate observation equipment before operating patterns settle.
Xovis reported its passenger-flow installation in September 2025. At Terminal 2, CLEAR and TSA's biometric gates have a separate identity role. Installing passenger sensors in a new terminal establishes the opportunity to measure flow from the start, but the airport still has to show how managers interpret that information and adapt resources when congestion builds.
Sensor coverage can help operations but does not prove a reduction in queues or require an AI inference. A sensor count is not a waiting-time result.

What the record establishes
01 / Deployed · limited scope
San Diego builds passenger-flow monitoring into a new terminal
The operational problem
Airport teams must understand when passenger demand begins to exceed available processing capacity.
What the sources report
Xovis said its passenger-flow management system had been fitted in the new Terminal 1 at San Diego.
Why it matters
A commissioned terminal offers a defined setting in which predictions and interventions could be assessed.
What remains unprovenThe source is vendor-led and does not report independent accuracy, scope or wait-time benefits.

CLEAR and TSA biometric eGates at San Diego International Terminal 2 · Deployed · limited scope
CLEAR and TSA opened biometric eGates at Terminal 2, Axios San Diego reported on 11 June 2026, as part of a rollout to 48 US airports. The gates match a traveller's face to their ID and boarding pass, and CLEAR says the process takes under five seconds.
According to San Diego International's own security page, CLEAR+ is available at Terminal 2 East from 4:00am to 7:30pm.

Where the evidence points
San Diego's evidence is stronger for installed sensors than for any claimed AI-driven operating improvement.
