St. Louis's 26 TSA identity units are part of a wider security picture

A government report documents 26 CAT-2 photo-matching units at St. Louis Lambert. CLEAR subsequently introduced a separate member identity route.

The passenger-processing context

A facial match at a TSA podium is a different decision from an airline boarding check.

A DHS/TSA report to Congress identified 26 CAT-2 units in 2024; news reports describe later CLEAR eGates.

A count from the federal agency establishes equipment but does not prove a particular time saving.

The operational problem

Security staff need controlled, auditable identity checks for eligible travellers.

What the sources report

The congressional report records St. Louis's CAT-2 installations.

Why it matters

This provides an authoritative baseline rather than a marketing-only count.

What remains unproven

No airport-specific accuracy, opt-out or wait-time outcome has been independently measured.

CLEAR eGates and lanes at St. Louis Lambert International · Deployed · limited scope

CLEAR launched eGates at St. Louis Lambert on 29 January 2026, FOX2 reported, after rolling them out at more than 30 airports. Identity checks take under five seconds and TSA keeps control, the station said, and First Alert 4 reported the launch the same day.

CLEAR's own site lists CLEAR+ lanes at Terminal 1 checkpoints A and C and Terminal 2 checkpoints E and F.

Editorial assessment

The federal CAT-2 equipment count is an inspectable baseline. The airport still lacks a public comparison of matching reliability and passenger processing after installation.
