Airline intelligence / Air Montenegro

Air Montenegro launches Tara, an AI assistant for passengers, and AI fare intelligence

Air Montenegro launched Tara, an AI assistant answering passengers in Montenegrin and English, on 28 October 2026, describing itself as the first airline in the region to do so. Since 2025 its revenue team has used RateGain's AI fare intelligence to track competitors' prices.

Air Montenegro, the national carrier, is expanding its network from Podgorica (TGD), including new routes under public service obligation contracts to Brussels, Frankfurt and Zagreb. Its AI work so far covers customer service and pricing.

Tara is linked to a new multichannel contact centre the airline opened at the same time.

The work behind the evidence

Tara answers passengers

The operational problem

A small airline cannot staff a contact centre around the clock in every language its passengers use.

What the evidence reports

Air Montenegro launched Tara at a press conference on 28 October 2026, Mondo, citing Vijesti, and Primorski Portal reported. The assistant answers passengers' questions about the airline's services and flights in Montenegrin and English, is linked to the new multichannel contact centre and was demonstrated live. The airline said it was the first in the region to launch such a service.

Operational significance

For a carrier of Air Montenegro's size, an AI assistant extends service hours and languages without a matching increase in staff.

Evidence still needed

Tara launched on the day of the announcement. The supplier, the tasks it can complete and any usage figures have not been published.

Watching competitors' fares with AI

The operational problem

On competitive European routes, a revenue team that sees a rival's price change late loses bookings.

What the evidence reports

RateGain said in June 2025 that Air Montenegro had adopted AirGain, its AI fare intelligence platform, which gives the revenue team current competitor fares from airline websites, online travel agencies and global distribution systems, flags unusual fare movements and compares fares route by route. An AI route performance digest was planned. Chief executive Vukadin Stojanović said the partnership "allows us to move from reactive to proactive pricing strategies".

Operational significance

Fare intelligence supports pricing decisions that a small revenue team would otherwise make with less information.

Evidence still needed

The account is RateGain's. Air Montenegro has not published results, and the planned digest has not been reported as live.

Editorial assessment

Air Montenegro has moved early for an airline of its size, with AI in both customer service and pricing.

Usage figures for Tara, and evidence of what fare intelligence has done to revenue, would show the effect.
