Galeão tested biometric boarding after introducing conventional border gates

Galeão's earlier automated immigration gates and later airline biometric tests should be read as different programmes. The trials do not establish that a full facial boarding service is operating today.

The sequence of airport decisions

Immigration gates confirm entry eligibility while boarding systems connect passengers to flights. An immigration installation does not verify biometric airline boarding.

The airport introduced automated border gates in 2016. Gol tested biometric boarding in 2019 and Embarque + Seguro activity followed in 2021. Trials conducted several years apart may use similar biometric language while testing quite different arrangements, and without a documented continuation decision they cannot be joined into a single story of permanent airport deployment.

The passage of time and different operators make it unsafe to merge these into one technology rollout.

The operational problem

Airline ground staff need a verified boarding identity process that passengers can use without undue friction.

What the sources report

Government and industry reporting describe the biometric boarding tests involving Gol and the Embarque + Seguro programme.

Why it matters

The experiments may inform future boarding design, but the record establishes trials rather than general deployment.

What remains unproven

No measured airport-wide take-up, false-match rate or lasting gate coverage is provided.
