Ningbo Customs uses remote centralised image review, an intelligent assisted image-review algorithm and AR glasses in its checks on international travellers at Ningbo Lishe, according to the Haishu District Government, citing Ningbo Customs, in January 2025. The same report says clearance takes under eight seconds per traveller, and that the customs office handled 6,687 international passenger flights and 931,000 travellers in 2024, its highest in five years.
Earlier, China Customs Times reported on 17 May 2024 that Ningbo handled 1,878 international flights and 240,000 passengers between January and April 2024, which it described as 1.9x and 2.1x year-on-year growth. The paper said customs clearance time had been cut by 30%.
